Homebound Service
The Huntley Area Public Library is pleased to announce its new Homebound Service.
Who is eligible for the service?
Residents in the library district who are unable to reach the library or leave home as a result of a disabling condition or lack of transportation that lasts 6 weeks or longer. You must also have a Huntley Area Public Library District card.
What if I live in the district but do not have a Huntley Area Public Library District card?
Contact the Circulation Desk at 847-669-5386 ext. 12 for details on registering for a library card.
What materials can I request to borrow?
The following library materials are available for delivery through the Homebound Service: books, audio books, magazines, and music that have a circulation of 3 weeks. DVDs and VHS materials are not eligible for loan. There is a 25 item limit per delivery.
How does this service operate?
Once your application has been approved, a staff member will contact you with more details. Homebound patrons request specific materials and/or request that a librarian selects items from a list of patron preferences. Materials are then delivered by library volunteers. The frequency of the deliveries is based on volunteer availability and patron need.
What is the cost?
The service is free. The payment of overdue fines is waived for homebound patrons when the library is at fault (i.e. pickup/delivery problems). However, you are responsible for the cost of lost and damaged items you have borrowed.
How do I request this service?
If you or someone you know are interested in receiving Homebound Service, please read the policy and fill out the application. Contact the Reference Desk at 847-669-5386 ext. 21 for more information or to request print copies of the policy and application. Mail completed applications to Homebound Service, Huntley Area Public Library, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142.
