Read to a Dog is a monthly program for families at the Huntley Area Public Library.  The volunteer animals are licensed therapy dogs and are accompanied by their owners for the program.  Families sign up for a fifteen minute time slot.  Readers can bring a book from home or choose one from the library.   We love Mo!  So we had a special event to celebrate everything Mo Willems.  We watched a video of “Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late”, then had different stations of other favorites, like Elephant and Piggie and Knuffle Bunny.  Then kids had a photo opportunity to be in a book with Elephant and Piggie.  And no, we didn’t let the pigeon drive the bus! Over sixty people stayed for our first Forts and Flashlights program last Friday night.  We had fun building forts, enjoying trail mix snacks, and reading while the library was closed!  Then we got glow-in-the-dark bracelets and played hide-and-seek throughout the library.  Enjoy photos from this event.
