Project Tween: Love Your Library Projects (February 2020) Gallery

Tweens designed and decorated a book/tote bag and made buttons to show their love for the library.  We provided all the supplies for kids ages 10-14 in this 90 minute class.  Check out the photos! For more details, dates and times for upcoming Project Tween programs, please check the Huntley Area Public Library’s official website, the print or online copy of the library’s newsletter The Whole Story.

Bullet Journals (November 2019) Gallery

Amanda Palczynski, graphic designer and art journalist, shared tips and ideas (plus lots of fun art supplies and stickers) to inspire participants in the creation of their own bullet journals. Popular spreads included monthly calendars, mood trackers, and chores/to-do lists. Everyone went home with a journal and – hopefully – a desire to continue journaling.

Book Publishing 101 (September 2019) Gallery

Sarah Natale (Mondello), book publishing professional and author of the award-winning historical fiction book, The Kiss of Death, which received a publishing contract when she was a teenager, spoke about the publication process –  including inspiration, research, the importance of editing, publication routes, and promotion – to an enthusiastic audience of adult and teen writers this past September. Please enjoy some photos from the event below:

Project Tween: Sketch a Turtle (August 2019) Gallery

Tweens met a live Blanding’s turtle and learned about this species as they sketched their subject.  Check out their sketches and how much the turtle liked hanging at the library!   For more details, dates and times for upcoming Project Tween programs, please check the Huntley Area Public Library’s official website, the print or online copy of the library’s newsletter The Whole Story.

Teen Candy Terrariums (July 2019) Gallery

The Huntley Library partnered with Morkes Chocolates to offer candy-making classes to teens this summer (based on the summer reading theme “Dig Into Summer”). Teens created candy terrariums filled with candy mud, dirt, rocks, worms, plants, and imaginative creatures that they sculpted themselves and dipped in chocolate! Creative and delicious. Check out their creations below:
