The newest (and final, according to our sources) Maximum Ride book is out! We celebrated with a Maximum Ride event that tested our “bird kid” attendees’ physical and mental skills. After a brief warmup, our flock honed their dexterity, reflexes, and hand-to-eye coordination. We also had a chocolate chip cookie tasting, played a life-sized game of Flock vs Erasers, put together book cover puzzles, and made feather hair extensions. Whew! I’m exhausted. Batman fans this July competed in a number of physical and mental challenges to hone their bat-skills. We indulged in some tasty bat-snax and were pleased that our Batman beacons turned out so well!
Rebecca Huston, henna and tattoo artist from Heathen Ink (Summit, IL), returned to the Huntley Library in July 2012 to share the history of henna body art with area teens. All participants went home with a temporary henna tattoo (lasting around 2 – 4 weeks), and information about how to create henna art of their own!
On June 26, 2012, Teens created their own dream journals at the library’s Teen Tuesday: Big Dreams event.
On June 19, 2012, for Teen Tuesdays, area teens created fashionable, unique, and handy (also possibly indestructible) duct tape wallets. Check out some of their creations.
Teen Zine members and other teens met at the Huntley Area Public Library on October 30, 2009, for an evening of spooky, costumed fun! They investigated several crime scenes and solved a kidnapping mystery, watched Teen Zine’s scary movie “The Book,” took a Monster Personality quiz, and bowled with eyeballs (someone even got a strike – yuck!)! Shannon Townsend (aka Kenmei Rokugatsu), manga and webcomic artist taught a class on the art of anime and manga. Teens in grades 6 – 12 attended and learned the basics of how to draw in this style.
