Journals for Wimps and Dorks – November 2011

Kids in grades 4-8 got together at the Huntley Area Public Library to create their own journals, diaries, and sketchbooks on November 3, 2011. Using a variety of materials, they made some really amazing creations (paint and duct tape were particularly popular). Once paint and glue dried, there was even time for some of them to get started writing and drawing!

Henna Body Art 2010

Rebecca Huston, henna artist from Heathen Ink (Summit, IL), returned to the Huntley Library in June of 2010 to share the history of henna body art with area teens. All participants went home with a temporary henna tattoo (lasting around 2 – 4 weeks), and information about how to create henna art of their own. Some of the teens even designed and applied their own tattoos!

Zombie Prom – October 2010

The Huntley Library’s Zombie Prom took place on October 29, 2010. Attendees were able to give themselves and other prom guests zombie makeovers. When everyone was properly zombified, we took prom pictures! Prom favors featured miniature disco balls and bloodied corsages (which the teens made themselves). Haiku Book Reviews 2010

April was National Poetry month! We asked teens in grades 6 – 12 to get in touch with their inner poet and write a book review in the form of a haiku (5 syllables – 7 syllables – 5 syllables) for a chance to win a prize! Teen Zine Halloween Party – October 2009

Teen Zine members and other teens met at the Huntley Area Public Library on October 30, 2009, for an evening of spooky, costumed fun! They investigated several crime scenes and solved a kidnapping mystery, watched Teen Zine’s scary movie “The Book,” took a Monster Personality quiz, and bowled with eyeballs (someone even got a strike – yuck!)! The Huntley Area Public Library will be closed Thursday, November 28, 2024, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Additionally, we will be closing early Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Our exterior book drop will be closing on Wednesday, November 27, at 5:00 p.m. as well.
