This book takes place in a futuristic New Beijing, China. Cinder is a mechanic and a cyborg after being in a bad fire. She is badly treated by her step-mom because she is put in a draft for a disease. She finds out she is Lunar, a princess, and is hated by the Lunarian Queen. She must find a way to fix everything and save the Prince of New Beijing.

Cinder is the main character and was adopted by the Lihn family and came there because her parents died in a “hover accident.” Cinder as so injured that if she was going to live she needed to become a cyborg. Adri Lihn treated Cinder unfairly and Cinder fell in love with the Prince (now Emperor) of the Eastern Commonwealth. Cinder was invited to an engagement ball for Emperor Kai and Queen Levana of Luna. Queen Levana is a horrible monarch, tyrant even, who “glamours” (controls minds) her citizens into loving her. Levana sees Cinder at the ball and she calls Cinder a Lunar runaway and Cinder is put in jail. Cinder later finds out hat really she is the lost Princess Selene that Levana attempted to murder in order to be queen. Cinder’s adventure continues in the thrilling Lunar Chronicles series. This book is about a girl who is a cyborg. She meets the prince and falls in love with him. There is a plague sweeping through her town. It claims the life of her stepsister. Her stepmother offers her up for plague research.
