The main characters are Coraline, the Other Mother, and a cat. The plot is very intense. Coraline Jones believes that her parents don’t love her. When they move to their new home, an apartment, Coraline finds a hidden door that leads nowhere. After opening it and going in, she discovers a fantastic world where everything is better. There, Coraline meets the Other Mother, a twisted copy of her real mom. The Other Mother wants to sew buttons into Coraline’s eyes and have her stay there forever. On a quest to find her parents and escape, she meets an arrogant, stuck-up, black cat. With the cat helping Coraline needs to find a way out before it’s too late…

* * * * Stars (Great!)
Coraline, the main character, who is sometimes a bit annoying, goes into a universe created by her “other mother” who wants to capture her soul. The other mother creates a world identical to Coraline’s, but with an endless amount of possibilities. The book gives great detail, so it’s easy to imagine the world and characters.
