At the Library
It takes just a few minutes to get a library card.
Residents of the library district need to present a current photo ID and proof of residency if the photo ID does not have a current address. Accepted photo ID includes a current Illinois Driver’s License or State ID, school ID, or passport. Accepted proof of residency includes a current utility or phone bill, bank or credit card statement, pay stub, lease, mortgage closing papers, tax bill with the patron’s name on it, or official mail from a local, state, or federal agency.
A parent’s signature is required for members under the age of 18.
Resident cards are valid for three years and are accepted at all surrounding public libraries.
Business Library Cards
A business library card is issued for one year to a business that operates within the library district. To apply, a signed letter is required requesting a business library card on company stationery from the business owner or highest ranking employee at the location. One card will be issued per business. To renew the card, the business owner or highest ranking employee at the location must request renewal on company stationery. To support those non-profit organizations that serve the community and are located in the library district, administrative offices of schools, churches, social service agencies, and government bodies are eligible for business cards.
Huntley Community School District 158 Educator Library Cards
District 158 educator library cards are available to school district staff members/educators. “School district staff members/educators” is defined as certified full-time educators and library staff working in District 158 schools served by the library district. Valid identification, such as a school badge, is required to obtain a card. Educator library cards are valid for one school year and then must be renewed for each year thereafter. Educator library cards are only valid at the Huntley Area Public Library District. Interlibrary loan services are not available with educator cards. Educator cards are not intended for personal use. Materials accessed with educator cards should not be distributed to students for their individual, at-home use. Private schools in the district can apply for a business library card.
