Kokoro and 6 other teens are chosen to visit a magical castle which they reach by traveling through mirrors. Ookami-sama (a girl in a wolf mask) greets them and explains that they have 1 year to find a key that will grant one of them their dearest wish. In the meantime, they can visit the castle during regular business hours and do whatever they want. As the story progresses, we learn more about each of the teens – especially Kokoro, who was horribly bullied in school and has refused to return. Her agoraphobia prevents her from going out most of the time, but she is able to visit the castle and make friends with the others. The mystery of the key’s whereabouts and what each teen’s wish might be if they find it runs through each volume, but the focus is primarily on their relationships/friendships with each other and what their lives were like back in the “real” world. This manga has an intriguing premise and storyline and engaging characters. Readers will find their curiosity piqued! Publisher suggests this title for ages 13+ (grades 7+).
