Job Title: Marketing Assistant – Content Developer

Schedule: 24 hours per week (Nights & Weekends for Special Events)
Salary: $15.69 – $24.00 Hourly
Position Summary
Assist the Marketing Department by helping with various tasks and projects, which may vary depending on seasonal needs.
Essential Job Functions:
· Organizes, designs, and distributes library staff newsletter.
· Works with staff and Head of Marketing to provide content for, or posting appropriate content to, social media
· Develop ideas and film original videos for use in marketing, promotion, and social media
· Create Facebook Events for library programs with appropriate images and provide the link for registration programs or apps, as needed
· Assist with printing/copying materials and refilling displays, as needed
· Has knowledge of WordPress and basic HTML to assist with posting items to library website, creating online forms, and compiling survey data
· Assist with special events and engaging with the public, sometimes offsite
· Maintains and develops the library’s online presence using eNews and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok)
· Explores new avenues to reach users online
· Maintains and fosters good relations with local media
· Assist with editing, processing, and uploading digital video content
· Creates library signage, as needed
· Requests quotes for graphics projects and collaborates with staff on orders
· Attends library staff meetings and participates in job related continuing education opportunities
· Print and distribute nametags and anniversary cards for staff
· Performs other duties as assigned
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Excellent written and oral communication skills for use with both public and staff with the capacity to communicate effectively on the telephone
· Attention to detail
· Ability to follow the Marketing Style Guide and appropriate use of HAPL logos
· Ability to discern appropriate content or language for use in public relations matters
· Ability to remain calm in difficult situations
· Ability to type, read written materials, be organized, and operate marketing equipment
· Ability to comfortably interact with residents in a public relations role
· Proficient and comfortable with technology and learning new software
· Excellent graphic design skills
· Overall knowledge of computers (hardware and software)
· Ability to type, read written materials, and maintain files
· Proficient experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and web-based productivity platforms
· Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
· Ability to work well with a diverse group of people

The carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds is sometimes required. Climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, and bending are sometimes required. Minimum Qualifications:
Must have two years of college/technical training or three years of related job experience in graphic arts, marketing, and communications. Completion of a two-year degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Arts or related degree; plus, two years work experience as a graphic artist or marketing assistant recommended. Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
