Minutes of the Regular Meeting
December 18, 2024
Call to Order: A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Huntley Area Public Library District was held in Program Room 3 at the Huntley Area Public Library District, 11000 Ruth Road, Huntley, IL 60142 on December 18, 2024. President Budzynski called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Attendance:
Trustees Present: Chris Budzynski, Sandy Domagalski, Stephanie Duncan, Katie Kunde, Shannon McKibben, and Stephanie Weil
Trustees Absent: Leslie Threadgill-Smith
Library Staff Present: Frank Novak, Library Director and Loralei Getty, Business Manager; Pamela Kampwerth, Head of Programming & Outreach Services, Aris Sherwood, Head of Marketing, Leslie Perez, Marketing Assistant-Content Developer
Visitors Present: Alina Zaidi,Lohith Seera, and Harini Pramodh
Pledge of Allegiance: President Budzynski led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Public Comments: There were no public comments.
Secretary’s Report: McKibben motioned, Kunde seconded that the Board approve the minutes of the Finance Committee Meeting held on November 20, 2024 as presented. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.

Approval of the minutes of the Executive Session held on November 20, 2024 was postponed until the Regular Board Meeting on January 15, 2025.
Financial Reports and Checks: McKibben motioned, Weil seconded that the Board approve the checks and financial report for November 2024 as presented. Roll call votes were: Budzynski-Aye; Domagalski-Aye; Duncan-Aye; Kunde-Aye; McKibben-Aye; Weil-Aye. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
Monthly Income/Expense Report (Discussion): Trustees reviewed the Income/Expense Report-November 2024 and there were no questions.
Library Director’s Report: Presented by Novak. At the last board meeting, the board approved a levy amount for which Novak did not have an ordinance document ready for signatures. The library needs to get signatures from the necessary board members for this year’s tax levy tonight as Kane County and McHenry County did not accept the levy ordinance forwarded without original signatures. The last day to file our levy is the last Tuesday of December.
Marketing Department Presentation: The Marketing Department gave a presentation to the board to discuss marketing functions. On a day-to-day basis, the department works on content creation & social media, graphic design, public relations & outreach and communication with social media being the focus. The library’s most used social media platforms are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok. Sherwood and Perez answered questions the board had about the library’s marketing efforts.
Committee Reports:
Policy: There was no report.
Finance: There was no report.
Facilities: There was no report.
Friends’ Liaison: Presented by Kampwerth. The holiday baskets have raised $4,500 to date. The Giving Tuesday plea has raised $3,500 to date. The Friends’ fiscal year ends on December 31, 2024. The Friends’ are preparing for the Baubles and Bling fundraiser which will be held on February 8, 2025.
New Business:
Board Meeting Dates for 2025: Kunde motioned, Domagalski seconded that the Board approve the Board Meeting Dates for 2025 as presented. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried
Old Business: There was no Old Business.
Upcoming Dates: The next Regular Monthly Board Meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
Board Discussion:
Post-Holiday Party: The Marketing Department is still working out the details but is thinking Pinecrest Golf Club on January 17, 2025 from 5:30-9:30. Novak will get information out to the board soon.
Executive Session: There was no Executive Session.

Adjourn: Duncan motioned, Weil seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:31 p.m. All Ayes. No Nays. Motion carried.
