To celebrate the release of Rick Riordan’s new book, “Son of Neptune,” the Huntley Area Public Library invited fans of the series to participate in an Olympics event – Camp Half-Blood style! In addition to trivia contests, toga relays, and a scavenger hunt, the kids got to slay Medusa (a bunch of times). If Huntley is ever invaded by Gorgons, we can feel comfortable knowing our fate is in the hands of these young heroes!
The library’s Junior Volunteers had their end of summer celebration at the library on August 1, 2011. The library’s Friends Foundation generously sponsored this big thank-you party for our teen helpers who volunteered their time over the summer. Thanks to everyone! We’re so happy to have had your help!
Teen Zine members and other teens met at the Huntley Area Public Library on October 30, 2009, for an evening of spooky, costumed fun! They investigated several crime scenes and solved a kidnapping mystery, watched Teen Zine’s scary movie “The Book,” took a Monster Personality quiz, and bowled with eyeballs (someone even got a strike – yuck!)! Check out these photos from the event…
On August 19, 2009, the Huntley Area Public Library threw a celebration bash for its Junior Volunteers, young people in grades 7 – 12, who helped out with the Children’s reading program and other activities over the summer. Many of these teens volunteered their time every week! Thank you, Junior Volunteers! We couldn’t have done it without you!
