This is a great book. Everybody has a secret, right? Well, Emily’s is a little different. She didn’t even know it until her first day of swimming class in 7th grade. She has never been allowed to go in water before (she showers, but not in a pool or ocean), which is strange, because she and her mom live on a boat on the board walk. It turns out that swimming comes VERY naturally to her. Her secret is that she is half-human and half-mermaid. Read the story to follow her on a journey.

Emily says that she’s afraid of the water so she doesn’t have to do swimming at school. she says that because she does not want anyone to know that she’s a mermaid.
I liked this because it is different than any other book that I have ever read.
